The Sable House

Scope
Design–build

Overview

The Sable House sits across three terraces stepped into bedrock. Each level performs a single function — public, private, service — and the boundary between them is defined by floor-to-ceiling concrete walls bearing the imprint of the formwork that shaped them.

The thirty-meter cantilevered living room is suspended from a post-tensioned roof slab, allowing the entire south elevation to dissolve into glass. Below grade, a passive earth-tube system pre-conditions ventilation air using the constant temperature of the surrounding stone.
